8 Random Things

Well, Neon tagged me for this. While I normally post such things on my Private Blog (Neon, do you want access?), I'll go ahead and post this one here.

THE RULES
1. All right, here are the rules.
2. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
3. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
4. People who are tagged write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
5. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

So here goes…eight pointless things about me. Hmm. The difficulty is in finding the pointless things...

8. I want to write. It was pointed out to me that the only things in life that I really put interest in these days and truly get passionate about involve writing. I've been writing since I learned how, and in high school I started (but never finished) about 5 novels. No time in college and I have had ideas for novels since but have never started them. I have an excellent idea for one right now, but just need the courage and time to start writing it.

7. The two little known talents that I have are Calligraphy and speed reading. I took a speed reading course on cassette in middle school or so. My dad had gotten a random box of junk at an auction sale and that was one of the items. I read really fast to this day. I also got a Calligraphy set for Christmas in the fourth grade and still can do it - kinda. I did one of my sister's wedding invitations, my own wedding invitations, and my friend Vicki's wedding invitations.

6. I'm not adopted, but all of my siblings are. I'm an "oops," and that's also why my siblings are significantly older than I am. Interestingly, Todd has the same scenario and if we were to ever have a baby, it would be a miracle child.

5. I have never been stung by a bee. I guess bees just like me. So, I don't know if I'm allergic to bee stings or not.

4. "Gone with the Wind" has always been my favorite book. Well, since I read it in the 8th grade. I practically have the movie memorized, but these days a better book for me has been "Behind the Scenes at the Museum."

3. I have never taken a physics class. Mr Haluck, my chemistry teacher in high school, got very upset about it. But, I realized that I didn't have to take physics to graduate, and knowing my preference of liberal arts, I doubted I'd need physics in college. Mr. Haluck told me otherwise and said I'd be sorry when I was in college-level physics having never taken high school level physics. Well, I showed him. Even when I switched to a more science-oriented major, physics was still not a requirement.

2. My first car was a 1980 Pontiac Firebird. Black. Stalled frequently (even though it was an automatic). Didn't have door keys because that model of cars had a separate door and ignition key. My dad had driven the car before me and had left the keys in the car one night. Thieves tried to steal it, but it kept stalling so they left it on the street and stole the keys instead. Dad never had a new door key made, so I had to remember to not lock the doors and to not leave ANYTHING in the car. I drove it for a few months before getting the Buick that most people remember me driving in high school and college, and after we sold the Firebird, the police later called saying that whoever had bought it (at an auction sale) had abandoned it in Washington, DC and never updated the title. I don't know what happened to it after that.

1. I own a piece of the Berlin Wall. My sister and her then boyfriend (now husband) chipped it themselves and brought it back for me. It has pink spray paint on it.

I'll play, but it will take me a day or two to get it up. And I might not have 8 people to tag.
