ON NOTICE: Disney's Magical Express

I love the fact that they will get my luggage. I love the fact that they pick me up at the airport and allow me to watch a cute Disney movie while I travel to my resort. I love that they pick me up at the resort and take me to the airport. I love that this is all free.

I do not love that they lost my reservation and therefore did not get me my luggage tags as requested. I do not love that they have no online system for reserving the Magical Express. I do not love that now I have to risk losing my bags.

Disney's Magical Express, you are ON NOTICE.

10-Second Movie Reviews

I've watched a lot of movies over the past couple of weeks. Here's some quick (very quick) reviews...

  • Who Killed The Electric Car? - Another movie to totally piss me off. This made me angry like you would not believe. It also made me want an electric car. I suggest watching it.
  • Little Miss Sunshine - It was ok. Not as good as I was expecting, but still enjoyable. Great cast and acting, a fun movie.
  • Stranger Than Fiction - Definitely not as funny/slapstick as other Will Ferrell movies, but I really liked it. I love Will Ferrell regardless.
  • Borat - OMG, I thought I'd hate this movie, but it was horribly funny. Very enjoyable, especially with a couple of beers in ya.
  • Syriana - Wow, snoozefest. I think I can appreciate this movie, but I kept falling asleep and I wasn't able to follow it. I might like it better awake.
  • Just Friends - It was funny and ok, but the real draw for me to this movie was that the mom character is Dave's mom. OMG, she is so much like Dave's mom. Has anyone else seen this movie that has met Dave's mom???
Edited to add... Um, George did not look good in Syriana. Maybe that's why I couldn't stay awake - I needed to fall asleep to see George looking hot. Matt Damon looked good though.

Mickey Mouse

A year ago, I would have looked at this picture and said, "That crazy mouse! He does everything, doesn't he?"

Instead, I'm thinking a few things. "Hey, I've done that!" and "That coral is not real." and "How exactly is Mickey breathing? How is his regulator working? Is it built into his costume? WTF?" and a little of "No, ray! Don't get Mickey like you did Steve Irwin! Especially not with all of those people watching!"

It could be photoshopped, I guess. I'm thinking about it too much just like I did when I watched Into the Blue the other night.

5 Second review of Into the Blue... Gorgeous scenery, gorgeous Jessica Alba, gorgeous Paul Walker. Terrible acting. Entertaining nonetheless and worth watching if you like underwater stuff... or Jessica Alba.

Summer 2007 Movies!

Yikes! Last year I pretty much could totally have cared less about any summer movies. I saw two, as a matter of fact - Pirates 2 and The Devil Wears Prada. Both were enjoyable, but those were the only 2 times that I made it to the theatres last year. This year is shaping up to be a big summer because there are lots of movies I'm excited about...
  • May 4: Spider-Man 3 I'm less excited about this one. I can probably wait for video, I wasn't that impressed with Spider-Man 2.
  • May 18: Shrek the Third OOO!
  • May 25: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End I know I'll definitely see this one.
  • June 8: Ocean's Thirteen I dont' know how I feel about this one. I was a little disappointed with Ocean's Twelve at first, until I watched it 1500 times on HBO. Now, I kind of like it. I especially like Scott Caan's line, "I will eat your whole head!" I think that was Scott Caan. Anyway, I'll probably see Ocean's Thirteen.
  • June 15: Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer Fantastic Four was awful, except for the fire guy. So, likely this is a "wait for HBO" movie.
  • July 13: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus, this comes out like a WEEK before the new book comes out.
  • July 27: The Simpsons Movie I have to hear about this one first, but I do love the Simpsons.
Plus before May, there is The Nanny Diaries (I read the book, loved it, but it sounds like Scarlett Johansson isn't going to be enough to get Todd out to see this with me. Maybe she has a nude scene?? I doubt it) and Blades of Glory (can you get a better combo than Will Ferrell and Napoleon Dynamite??).

Anyway. Discuss.

Six-Pack Summer

by Phil Vassar

I just COULD NOT WAIT any more for this. Happy spring!! It's the first day of spring and I'm hoping that after our snowstorm Friday, that the weather that we have today and this week will continue on to summer. Like it says in the song, I'm so ready. This is my summer theme song.

Winter sure was cold and miserable.
Cooped up, shut down, baby it was pitiful.
Anyhow, it's over.
Now, we owe to ourselves to have a little fun.
The pace car's pacing.
Now the green flag's waving!

Uh, oh another six-pack summer comin'
Sing to me babe I'll be your dashboard drummer and,
Let's turn the radio up as loud it can go.
Got the ultra-ray wraparound sunglass vision.
Got the sails up iced down, cool inhibition.
Just to relax and let the six-pack summer roll.

We've got the sun block, a blanket and the best of Jimmy Buffett.
T-bones for the grill, hey ain't it great to rough it?
The party's on from dawn 'til dawn,
24-7 'til they pull the plug.
No more waiting.
Come on and kiss me baby.

Uh, oh another six-pack summer comin'.
Sing to me babe I'll be your dashboard drummer and,
Let's turn the radio up as loud it can go.
Got the ultra-ray wraparound sunglass vision,
Got the sails up iced down, a cool inhibition.
Just to relax and let the six-pack summer roll.

Slow and steady,
I'm so ready!

Uh, oh another six-pack summer.
Sing to me babe I'll be your dashboard drummer and,
Let's turn the radio up as loud it can go.
Got the ultra-ray wraparound sunglass vision.
Got the sails up iced down, a cool inhibition.
Just to relax and let the six-pack summer roll.

Tastefully Simple

The company whose name I've never spoken online before!!

I deactivated from Tastefully Simple on January 1. I had been a consultant for nearly 4 years (I would have had my 4th anniversary on February 14, 2007). I can finally talk publicly about TS, since I couldn't refer to Tastefully Simple by name online as long as I was a consultant.

I love Tastefully Simple. I became a consultant in 2003 for a lot of reasons. I wanted to try a business like this one, I had extra time because my main job was only part time. I wanted extra money, and I wanted to challenge myself. Plus, I was crazy about the products and wanted to sell them. As an added benefit, it turned out that my favorite thing about TS was the people that I met. Customers, my team, my upline, other consultants. I met SO MANY people and got SO MANY friends as a result of being a Tastefully Simple consultant. And I loved it, I really did.

So, I know you're wondering - why did I deactivate? Well, as much as I loved parties and conferences, there was a lot of work between them that I just no longer had time for. I'm the kind of person where I needed to work my business all the way or not at all and I was leaning too much towards the not at all in 2006. Tastefully Simple had become an easy way to ignore and escape from my failing marriage and once I was out of my marriage, I suddenly had less time. I wanted to participate in other parts of my life again (marathons, work, fun)... and Tastefully Simple was in the way. I still love the company and the products. I love Jill (TS's founder and CEO). I miss my former team. But, I still see them and talk to them regularly.

I'm still a faithful customer. The new spring/summer line is AWESOME. There is a product called Berry Caramel Drizzle that I had tried as a sample for the 2005 National Conference and I fell IN LOVE with it then. It's finally available to buy and I'll get a whole case, trust me.

Anyway, I love and miss TS. I miss my team. Someday, I may sign up again, if my life leads me in that direction. For now, I'm a customer.

Loco!!

by David Lee Murphy

Little Hula girls on the shot glass.
All we need's a little salt and lime.
We can plug in the hot pepper lights and pretend,
That we're livin' on Key West time.
I can run to the store and get some charcoal,
Buy a tiki torch an' fire up the grill.
The whole town wants to know when I'm gonna grow up,
But you know I never will.

Yeah, I might be a little bit loco,
But it keeps me from losin' my mind.
Oh, but half insane, that's ok,
Babe, a little bit crazy's all right.

There's nothin' wrong with a little excitement;
No, it makes me forget about work.
'Cause I live by the rule that everything's cool,
Just as long as nobody gets hurt.
Hey, I feel like I'm on vacation.
Honey, you say the word and we'll go.
'Cause you're getting to me in those cut off jeans,
And that T-shirt from Sloppy Joe's.

Yeah, I might be a little bit loco,
But it keeps me from losin' my mind.
Oh, but half insane, that's ok, babe,
A little bit crazy's all right.

Yeah, the deep end might be so close,
Oh, that I'm hangin' on for dear life.
Yeah, I might be a little bit loco, baby,
But a little bit crazy's all right.
That's right.

Yeah, I might be a little bit loco,
But it keeps me from losin' my mind.
Well, I might be a little bit loco, baby,
But, a little bit crazy's all right.
You're crazy, baby.

Might be a little bit loco, baby,
But, a little bit crazy's all right.

Weather

Wednesday...
Kim: This weather is awesome! Thanks, Mother Nature!
Mother Nature: Yes, my dear. I do this for you.
Kim: You ROCK!

Thursday Afternoon...
Kim: Well, it's not sunny, but it's still nice.
MN: Thanks!
Kim: So nice, in fact, that I will eat lunch outside!
MN: Yes, my darling. I made the weather springlike in order to make you happy.
Kim: Thanks, Mother Nature! I love you!

Thursday Evening...
Kim: Um... Mother Nature? It's raining and 40 degrees.
MN: Did you think I meant it? HA!! You're so cute with your thoughts of buying spring clothes and thoughts about summer event planning. Did you want to build a fire outside and drink wine this weekend? Yeah, I thought I'd make it rain instead. Sorry about that.
Kim: You suck, Mother Nature.

Friday Morning....
MN: OH, I suck, do I??? How about some sleet and snow? How does that feel? Huh?
Kim: You know what? I'm mad at you!
MN: HA HA HA!!! SNOW TONIGHT!!!!! You were starting to think about gardening and sunshine and my plan was to disappoint you as much as possible! HA!
Kim: *sob*

Yeah. You know where I want to be instead? Here. Take me there. As soon as possible. I can not get there fast enough. Seriously.

Congratulations!

Dear Route 30 Guy,

I saw that you took your wreaths down. Good for you!! I guess that 70 degree day really motivated you to get outside and freshen up your house, huh? I'm glad that you're not dead in there, because I was starting to feel guilty about not checking on you.

Your Buddy,
Kim

Shamrock 5k 2007

The benefit of a 1:15pm race time is that I don't have to get up early. The drawback is that it kills my entire day. Regardless, I was at Downtown Athletic Club to pick up my packet for the Shamrock 5k at 11:45 this morning. I ran into Joanna and her dad at packet pickup and then headed down to park.

The other sucky thing about this particular race is that the start line and the finish line are far away from each other, so parking sucks no matter where you go. I parked at the finish line because of a mystical $5 coupon that I failed to print out. However, even if I had, it turns out that I needed to stay in the garage 3 hours, which I didn't. I couldn't stay at the metered spot at packet pickup because of lack of quarters. Anyway, I had to walk back up to the starting line.

Someone I don't know, ErikaW, Kim, Bruce, Davida before the start

After a quick pee in the Walters Art Gallery, I ran into Davida, ErikaW and some others. We also saw Dianne who bummed me out by telling me that Kristy wasn't running this year. One of the main reasons I'd signed up for this race (since I didn't really like it last year) was to run with Kristy. We also saw Joanna and her dad again at the starting line, which was awesome. I never did find my friend Stephanie, who was also running the race.

Joanna and her dad

I ran the first mile or so with Davida, running straight through. I almost never run straight through anymore. I was getting tired, so I switched to 2:1s. It was a pretty uneventful run to the finish line. This race is so crowded, it's nearly impossible to set any kind of personal record. At least there was water at the finish line this year.

Wow, look at all of those people!

The finish area was so crowded that I decided not to stick around and find the group again. I wanted to get home anyway. I did run into Joanna & dad again though, on my way to the garage.

So, it was an ok race. I was going to say that I should tell my 2008 self not to run it again, but honestly there's no other good races in March anyway, so I may as well run it again. It's something to do. And I could have stayed for the parade.

Davida, Bruce & Me at the starting line

Results... Not my worst race, but not my best either. Mediocre.

Beer in Mexico

By Kenny Chesney

Staring out into the wild blue yonder
So many thoughts to sit and ponder
About life and love and the lack of
And this emptiness in my heart
Too old to be wild and free still
Too young to be over the hill
Should try to grow up
But who knows where to start

So I'll just sit right here
And have another beer in Mexico
Do my best to waste another day
Sit right here and have another beer in Mexico
Let the warm air
Melt these blues away

Sun comes up and the sun sinks down
And I've seen them both in this tourist town
Up for days a rage, just trying to search my soul
For all the answers and the reasons why
I'm at these crossroads in my life
And I really don't know which way to go.

So I'll just sit right here
And have another beer in Mexico
Do my best to waste another day
Sit right here and have another beer in Mexico
Let the warm air
Melt these blues away

Maybe I'll settle down and get married
Or stay single and stay free
Which road I'll travel is still a mystery to me.

So I'll just sit right here
And have another beer in Mexico
Do my best to waste another day
Sit right here and have another beer in Mexico
Let the warm air
Melt these blues away

Life Ain't Always Beautiful

by Gary Allan

Life ain't always beautiful.
Sometimes, it's just plain hard.
Well, life can knock you down, it can break your heart.
Life ain't always beautiful.
You think you're on your way,
And it's just a dead end road at the end of the day.

But the struggles make you stronger,
And the changes make you wise,
And happiness has its own way of taking its sweet time.
No, life ain't always beautful.
Tears will fall sometimes.
Life ain't always beautiful,
But it's a beautiful ride.

Life ain't always beautiful.
Some days I miss your smile.
I get tired of walking all these lonely miles.
And I wish for just one minute,
I could see your pretty face,
Guess I can dream, but life don't work that way.

But the struggles make me stronger,
And the changes make me wise,
And happiness has its own way of taking its sweet time.
No, life ain't always beautiful.
But I know I'll be fine.
Hey, life ain't always beautiful,
But it's a beautiful ride.
What a beautiful ride.

Wardrobe Update: Casual Choices

Back to Ann Taylor Loft yesterday afternoon (I was not at work, obviously), but this time to Hunt Valley and all by myself. I didn't buy anything or try anything on, at least not at Ann Taylor Loft (I'll get to some other stuff later), but I saw some things that I'd like to get. By spending $350 in there earlier this week, I got a bunch of $25 coupons that I need to use by April. And I need casual clothes, so this is good. If I use them soon enough, I'll maybe get more $25 coupons.

Anyway... Gimme your thoughts on these.

Eyelet tee, pink

Julie Cardo Pants

Outfit...

I love this skirt. It's in the store, but not on the website.

Ok. Now, I did get shoes. I went to DSW and tried some on. I wanted to get casual shoes that I could wear with jeans that are not running shoes, since I happen to wear running shoes pretty much every day.

This is what I ended up with:

Sky Rockets (fuel) in Navy/Grey

I had trouble because it was about 3:30 or 4pm, and I'd been wearing heels all day and my feet were bigger than normal. I need to try them on again, actually, to see if they still fit. I tried to get some other shoes, but failed because of the sizing issue.

Wardrobe Update: Ann Taylor Loft Business Casual

Well, I went to the mall. I brought Todd along for emotional support. I decided to hit up the one store from Tuesday night where I'd actually found some things to try on: Ann Taylor Loft. I started out with the sweater set type thing, but I found that when they come down over my hips, I just look boxy/big hipped. Tucking things in is usually bad for me. So, I was opting not to. Also, their "Ann" Cut pants were too tight on me in the hips and thighs, but when I went to a bigger size, they were too big and just HUNG there. I tried on the "Julia" cut with much better success.

If you go to Ann Taylor Loft in the Columbia Mall, ask for Doreen to help you. She was WONDERFUL. Over the course of 2 hours, she had me try on all of these outfits. I was looking in the mirror, she was switching what size she was putting me in (the skirt I got is a 10, which shocked the pants off of me), and helping me choose jewelry, shoes, etc. Todd stood around for the full 2 hours, giving his opinion and picking things out with Doreen. It really was like What Not to Wear. It was awsome. And I got what I needed. Let's see...

Outfit #1

Lovely black & lace dot skirt.

I think this is it, but it might not be. Scoop neck sweater in black.

I had trouble with this outfit because the skirt needed to be smaller than expected and the sweater needed to be smaller than expected and tucked in to get the best effect. However, I think that the end result is a good one. I'll be wearing this with sheer black stockings and black pumps.

Outfit #2:

Dot print layered cardigan

Julie fit Wide Leg pant (in mocha)

This is what I'm wearing today - with the same black pumps & stockings. It works, I think. This cardigan had to be in SMALL, which is weird, but I have a small waist, I guess.

Outfit #3:

Julie wide leg Cuffed pant in Black

Button Up Shirt in White

I don't know if this is the one I got or not, but it's basically a white button down shirt. Very nice, simple look that I kind of already had, but this is higher quality and new. So, better.

Black Pumps

Yeah, easy spirits aren't really sexy, but they're comfy for basic shoes that I will wear a lot. I've always liked them.

Black and neutral necklace.

I got another necklace, too, but I couldn't remember which one.

That's it! A successful trip to the mall! Todd is awesome for coming and helping me out, btw. ;)
