On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful

by Kenny Chesney
... a sad song, but a good song.

I knew I could never hold that girl,
She was born to see the world.
All I got was a picture she mailed me.
Barefoot in the snow white sand,
Bag of seashells in her hand,
She finally found her paradise, it seems.

On the coast of somewhere beautiful,
Trade winds blowing through her hair,
Sunlight dancing on the water,
I wish I was there.
Don't know how I'm gonna find her,
All I know so far,
She's on the coast of somewhere beautiful,
Running with my heart.

Sometimes when the sun goes down,
Shadows fall across this little town,
I close my eyes and I drift away,
To another place in another time,
The world was ours and she was mine.
I dream of holding her again someday.

On the coast of somewhere beautiful,
Trade winds blowing through her hair,
Sunlight dancing on the water,
I wish I was there.
Don't know how I'm gonna find her,
All I know so far,
She's on the coast of somewhere beautiful,
Running with my heart.

Don't know how I'm gonna find her.
All I know so far,
She's on the coast of somewhere beautiful,
Running with my heart.

Nitrox

I took my Nitrox class last night. It was supposed to be over two days, but Jay (the instructor) said that we could probably fit it into one night, and we did. He was the same guy who taught my open water class, so we knew each other. I also knew one other person in the class, Doug, who used to work with me at TRP. He's still at TRP. He overheard me talking to Jay about Bonaire, so I guess if my TRP stalker person didn't know I was going to Bonaire before, she knows now. But who knows, maybe Doug's not much of a gossip.

Anyway, I got a 100% on the test and also analyzed some scuba tanks. I'm even more excited about going to Bonaire than I was before.

Shout Out!!

So, I passed this house on my way home from work pretty much everyday when I lived in Owings Mills. When I went to my house a while back (I guess it must have been while Dave was in England), I noticed that the lawn ornaments on this particular lawn were even more out of control than when I was passing everyday. I mean, it was like Halloween, Christmas, Football season (go ravens!), Valentines, and the Fourth of July were all going on at the same time. I almost blogged about it then, because it was right after I saw the Route 30 guy with the Christmas wreaths still up (that same Route 30 house has gorgeous flower beds right now, btw, bravo, guy!).

Anyway, the Owings Mills house was always having kitchen appliances and whatnot out in their driveway with signs that said "free." It was entertaining to see how long it took to find someone to take these items. I'm talking once a month a new item showed up. The guy must be redecorating. Well, I was browsing Craigslist today and lookie at this... linkie-poo. Apparently, he just doesn't sit the stuff at the end of his driveway, but he actually advertises. Awesome!

I have to go to Owings Mills on Monday to collect some cash. Maybe I'll stop by and take a photo. Or, maybe I'll take the chair. Or, if it's not there... there's a similar chair in the parking lot of what used to be the roller skating rink on route 30 that I've had my eye on for quite some time.

Two Pina Coladas

by Garth Brooks
Garth, I'm still hoping you're gonna start touring again soon. In the meantime, I'll make do with Kenny Chesney.

I was feelin’ the blues,
I was watching the news,
When this fella came on TV.
He said "I’m tellin’ you,
That science has proven,
That heartaches are healed by the sea."
That got me goin’,
Without even knowin’,
I packed right up and drove down.
Now I’m on a roll,
And I swear to my soul,
Tonight I’m gonna paint this town.

So bring me two pina coladas.
One for each hand.
Let’s set sail with Captin Morgan,
And never leave dry land.
Troubles I forgot ‘em.
I buried ‘em in the sand.
So bring me two pina coladas,
She said good-bye to her good timin’ man.

Oh now I’ve gotta say,
That the wind and the waves,
And the moon winkin’ down at me,
Eases my mind,
By leavin’ behind,
The heartaches that love often brings.
Now I’ve got a smile,
That goes on for miles,
With no inclination to roam.
I’ve gotta say,
That I think I’ve gotta stay,
‘Cause this is feelin’ more and more like home.

So bring me two pina coladas,
One for each hand.
Let’s set sail with Captin Morgan,
And never leave dry land.
Troubles I forgot ‘em.
I buried ‘em in the sand.
So bring me two pina coladas,
She said good-bye to her good timin’ man.

ON NOTICE: Dandelions

Grrr... You are weeds. You get everywhere. You'd actually be kind of pretty if you would just be in one spot, but NO. You have to force your way into pretty grass and yards and flower beds and your roots are a PITA to pull up. And while you're pretty when you're yellow, you then turn into that ugly ugly puffy dandelion-seed-thing, and I'm ashamed of all of the times when I was a kid and I got all excited and blew your seeds into the neighbor's yard. I've heard dandelion wine is good, though. I've never had it.

So... Dandelions... you are ON NOTICE.

Galloway & Armstrong on CNN

CNN is lame and doesn't have video of it, and I was asleep and missed it, but here is the transcript from Sunday mornings show with Jeff Galloway and Lance Armstrong.

Galloway Training Kickoff 2007

It was like the first day of school!! Back from the winter off, getting to see all of my old friends and see what everyone was up to over the break. I forgot my camera, so I have to rely on Davida or Karen to get me pictures.

I skipped the run this year, but I did go to Jeff Galloway's talk at Fleet Feet on Friday night. I got more out of it this year, knowing what I am getting into and such. He answered a lot of questions and talked about the changes to his program. He is changing up the intervals so that we walk more often and go slower on the training runs in order to reduce injury. As part of this, he was discussing how he has some sub-3 hour marathoners in his training program who trained for said sub-3 hour marathons while doing training runs as 12+ minutes per mile. Incredible!! And these same sub 3-hour marathoners ran a marathon that fast while still taking walk breaks!!!!! Holy crap!! I'm impressed with the entire training program, I really am.

I caught up with all of my friends - Debra and SueG are running marathons this year. Caryn is running a half marathon. Davida, Jess, Lori, ErikaM, ErikaW, Andrea... they're all back. And Dianne is back, too!! I'm thrilled and excited and it's really going to be a great year.

So, I'm all signed up. Oh, and I think I've decided that my fall marathon is most definitely going to be Marine Corps. I'll be back for a second try. Now, the only thing to do is wait patiently for training to start in May.

Nothin' But a Breeze

By Jimmy Buffett

Life is just too short for some folks,
For other folks it just drags on.
Some folks like the taste of smokey whiskey,
Others figure tea’s too strong.
I’m the type of guy who likes it right down the middle,
I don’t like all this bouncing back and forth.
Me, I want to live with my feet in Dixie,
And my head in the cool blue north.

In a small suburban garden,
Not a single neighbor knows our name.
I know the woman wishes we could move somewhere,
Where the houses aren’t all the same,
"Toddy, I wish you would take me where the grass is greener,
I really couldn’t say where it may be.
Somewhere high on a mountaintop,
Or down by the deep blue sea."

There we’ll do just as we please,
It ain’t nothin’ but a breeze.

One day soon I’ll be a grandpa,
All the pretty girls will call me Sir.
Now where they’re asking me how things are,
Soon they’ll ask me how things were.
I don’t mind being a longboarding grandpa,
If you will be my awesome grandma.
I suggest we have a little cool conch salad,
In the shade down in old Nassau.

There we’ll do just as we please,
It ain’t nothin’ but a breeze.

Life is just too short for some folks,
For other folks it just drags on.
Some folks like the taste of smooth tequila,
Others figure tea’s too strong.
Now I’m the type of guy that likes it right down the middle,
I don’t like all this bouncing back and forth.
Me I want to live with my feet in Dixie,
And my head in the cool blue north.
Me I want to live with my flip flops in Dixie,
And my head in the cool blue north.

Review: Body Stuff I've Bought Lately

Like most women, I like smelly lotions, creams, gels, soaps, etc. Here are some I've bought recently and what I think of them.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Butter... Mmmm.... Smells so good. Smells like Oranges. I didn't know what a Satsuma was, so I looked it up on wikipedia and it's another name for tangerine. The smell is the best, it reminds me of summer. However, it also made my skin nice and soft :) I also looked at Pink Grapefruit, but it smelled a little like BO.

Olay Body Quench... What I like about this stuff is that it smells good (like perfume), but also makes my skin sparkly!

Olay In shower Body Lotion... Also smells like perfume, but you put it on in the shower and rinse it off. This is nice if you want to have a less intense scent, or if you don't want to be quite so greasy.

Body By Victoria Eau de Parfum Spray... Dave's sister gave me a Body by Victoria gift basket a couple years ago. It had some Lotion and Body Scrub in it and when I would use the lotion, I would get tons of compliments on how I smelled. So, I got the perfume and it's now my favorite perfume! It only requires a little tiny squirt, as it's very strong. How nice that it's so affordable!

Lush Sex Bomb Bath Bomb... I first discovered Lush at the store in the Orlando Airport and I really like their products, although I didn't try a bath bomb until this February. I kind of just like the name of this one. It also smells good and turns the bath water pink. So far, none of their bath products have really dirtied up the tub, either. Which is nice because the fun of a bath is ruined if you have to scrub the tub later... (the same can NOT be said for the peppermint bath oil that I purchased in Vegas in 2003).

Lush Pop in the Bath Bubble Bar... The lady in the store when I was in Orlando recently recommended this one and I used it the next night because I was coming down with a cold. I crumbled about a third of it into the water and it did make some nice bubbles and turned the water a shade of purple that was very pretty.

Lush Schnuggle Body Bar... Smells like pine. Really scents up the shower when you use it and doesn't make you greasy when you get out of the shower. The softness was temporary, but it was a pleasant scent.

Lush Fresh Farmacy Cleanser... It did seem to work to make my skin clear and smelled good (clean scent). However, it really made a mess of the shower, putting pink melted soap all over the place. Next time, maybe I'll get a tin for it.

Lush I Should Coco Soap... When I placed my Lush order in February, this soap came as a sample and I only just got around to trying it. I love it! What a nice scent, even if don't like coconut. Left my skin smooth and feeling good!

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion... I've talked a lot about scent and that's great, but if you're looking for function and moisturizing on a daily basis, you have to go with Aveeno. A lot of their products are fragrance-free, so you can use them along with your favorite scented item and not have them acting in contrast. Or, if you don't want scent (because maybe you're a guy), you don't have to have it. I love this lotion! It really works to make your skin soft. Or, go with the intense relief hand cream for really dry spots.

Guitars and Tiki Bars

by Kenny Chesney

Tired of my beeper, tired of my phone.
Tired of this tired old tie I've got on.
Sick of this trafic jam that I'm in,
We all get sick of it all now and then.
When I've had it up to here I go down there.

To guitars, tiki bars, and a whole lotta love,
Mangoes and Marley you know, fit me like a glove.
Sixth gear with nowhere to steer when enough is enough,
It's guitars, tiki bars, and a whole lotta love.

I feel like a fish jerked out of the sea,
Or a bird in a cage that's never seen a key,
Sick of this grind and I think that I ought,
To bring this grind to a grinding halt.
Now I've had it up to here let's go down there.

To guitars, tiki bars, and a whole lotta love,
Mangoes and Marley you know, fit me like a glove.
Sixth gear with nowhere to steer when enough is enough,
It's guitars, tiki bars, and a whole lotta love.

Now I've had it up to here let's go down there.

To guitars, tiki bars, and a whole lotta love,
Mangoes and Marley you know, fit me like a glove.
Sixth gear with nowhere to steer when enough is enough,
It's guitars, tiki bars, and a whole lotta love...

Boston

Ugh, what a day for a marathon. However, today's the day that the Boston Marathon is taking place. Not that I'd ever run Boston anyway, but I'm glad I'm not out there. According to the Boston Athletic Association's website, this is the slowest finish time since 1985 due to the weather. Still, Robert Cheruiyot won the men's title, even after he slipped and fell crossing the finish line in Chicago. Good for him!!!

I'm keeping a watch out for Mel and Alla to see how they do.

Wardrobe Update: Ann Taylor Loft

I had 7 coupons for $25 off of a $50 purchase from the last time I was there.

Empire Rib V-Neck Sweater in Tan

Crochet Empire Sweater in Black

Shimmering Shadow Dot Shirt

Embroidered Eyelet Square Neck Top

Julie White Pants

Shorts

I feel like I got more stuff than this and don't remember. I actually found a couple things because the place was so crowded (40 minutes looking for a parking spot... stupid Wegman's). Since it was so crowded, the dressing rooms had clothes strewn about and I looked through the stuff people had left and got a couple of things.

I'm sick. This was a big deal to go out shopping with a stupid cold when I'd rather be at home sleeping. I saved $175 though... can't beat that!

Wardrobe Update: Old Navy

This was last week, but better late than never...

Cargo Shorts in white, brown & black.

Cotton Shorts in Khaki

V Necks (couple of colors, I forget which)

Ruched V-Necks (black and green)

I know, it's all kind of boring. Basically, I got some summer staples because my summer wardrobe is severely lacking.

Wardrobe Update: Limited Too!

Yes, you read that right.

I'm not posting pictures because I'm too frickin busy and I'm leaving work early today, so I just don't have time.

We know I'm someone who can't pick out an outfit to save my life. Well, today I went to the Limited Too because I wanted to get my niece a birthday gift and that's what she wanted - an outfit from Limited Too. Let me tell you - I suck at picking stuff out, so picking out something for a picky 12 year old girl is a PITA (Lori, I should have asked for help from you since Madison is the same age).

Well, I just bought what the mannequin was wearing. Hopefully she'll like it, I give it to her this weekend (her birthday is monday).

Shorts... Kinda like those, but pink striped.
Tank top... in white
Henley... in pink

That outfit was an obscene amount of money.

Also, I shopped at Old Navy this week (Tuesday, I think) and bought a ton of stuff, but forgot to post about it, so I'll do that when I have more time.

Nostalgia Photo of the Day: Miss Cleo

Dave asked me to locate old photos of Miss Cleo last week. Here's one of the photos that I unearthed. I am wondering how Miss Cleo Vs. The Bug would work on Kitten War. I should hook that up. Anyway, I think she was 8 weeks old when this picture was taken. March 1 was her 6th birthday!! I sang happy birthday to her when I saw her (I was watching her while Dave was in England).

I've been sad because I don't think I will see Miss Cleo again. She's a good kitty. I'll miss her lots. At least I got to spend some quality time with her recently.

Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Non-Run

The Cherry Blossom race was this morning and I set a new PR of 1:32!!! For comparison, Todd ran the Annapolis Ten Mile Run in 1:33! I cannot believe it, as I was totally not trained for this race...

Yeah, April Fools. I'm sure you aren't fooled. I didn't run today. Basically, I was unprepared, having not run more than 7 miles since January 7 when I ran the Disney Marathon, and having not run at all in about 2 weeks. To have run a race today would have risked injury, and the thought of running had been making me pretty miserable. Still, I went down to DC anyway and I got to spend the night in a nice hotel. So, it all worked out. Plus, we got to look at parts of the Marine Corps Marathon route and remember... specifically, by surprise we passed the onramp on to the 14th Street Bridge which marked mile 20 and therefore was a very vivid memory.
