Lucky Old Sun

by Kenny Chesney and Willie Nelson
Just how I'm feeling today...

Up in the morning,
Out on the job,
Work like the devil for my pay.
Lucky old sun,
Ain't got nothing to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

Fuss with my woman,
Toil for my kids,
And sweat till I'm wrinkled and grey.
But that lucky old sun,
Ain't got nothing to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

Dear Lord above,
Can't you see I'm crying,
Tears are in my eyes.
Send down a cloud with a silver lining,
Take me to paradise.

Show me that river,
Lead me across,
And take all my troubles away,
Like the lucky old sun,
I'll have nothing to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

Dear Lord above,
Can't you see I'm crying,
Tears are in my eyes.
Send down a cloud with a silver lining,
Take me to paradise.

Show me that river,
Lead me across,
And take all my troubles away.
Like the lucky old sun,
I'll have nothing to do,
But roll around heaven all day.

But roll around heaven all day...

The Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong versions of this are good too.

ARg! I hate it when something is a cover and I don't know about it. I need to start checking these things. Ah well...

A friend of mine actually has a special ipod playlist of covers that he thinks are better than the original song. For example, Melissa Etheridge's cover of Refugee just blows all other versions out of the water.

I tend to prefer Jimmy Buffett's version of southern cross, but I prefer Harry Nilson's version of Everybody's Talking.

And I like Sarah McLachlan's version of Song for a Winter's Night over Gordon Lightfoot's. (the latter will be on AVNCVIII)
