I'll post more on the trip at another time. But, we arrived home Friday and then we've kind of relaxed this weekend (and watched the Olympics non-stop).
I did my first run in 2 1/2 weeks on Saturday. I was supposed to do 14 miles, but for a number of reasons I didn't do that many. Our plane was late Friday night, so I didn't get to sleep until 12:30am, but I was supposed to be up at 4:45am to meet my group to run. I wasn't sure what would happen with my foot and I had been told not to run more than a half mile if my foot was bothering me. I was coming down with a cold (which I am still suffering from, but is thus far fairly mild).
Todd was doing the water stop for the group, so I went down with him, and ran from there. I ended up running with two different groups at two different intervals for a total of about 6 miles. It felt really good. The top of my foot really isn't bothering me today, but the arch pain (plantar faciitis) is. Tuesday, I start my treatment, and I am really looking forward to resolving this issue finally.
Since the month of July was basically shot for everything besides my dad and a little bit of running here and there, I am ready to get back to the gym and cross training and swimming. I feel horribly out of shape and it's really bothering me. I forced myself to rest today because I have a cold, but I am eager to get back into it. I've mentioned a few times that I have put on some weight this year. Some of it was muscle, but I am 100% certain that I've lost muscle these last few weeks, but more weight has come on. I'm getting my thyroid tested this week as well, so I'll find out soon if my dosage is right or not.
I'm trying to be cool with my weight gain. This is how it is. I'm stressed, I've had a lot of things going on. When I stopped counting calories, I said that I would be fine with what my body wants to do. It's just not an easy task. I'm working on it, the mental part of this is the hardest part.
Anyway, here's a little photo that I took last week from our resort. It was lovely :) That island in the background is where we got married in 2009.

You've sure been through a ton lately. I hope things settle down for you now that your "Back to the Grind" and that the feet treatment works well.
hopefully the thyroid still checks out ok! not that the stressors have been good for you either, but i hope nothing is wrong with the ol' thyroid.
glad you guys were able to get away. i think of you everytime i look at todd's calendar (which is almost daily since it hangs next to my computer at work!) i try not to look at it on saturdays or sundays, sorry ;)
